“I am a S t a r k. Yes, I can be b r a v e.”

Sansa Stark ~ The Bride
If you ever call me sister again I’ll have you strangled in your sleep.
Catelyn Stark fucks with people’s preconceptions of female characters because she exists in the space between the Evil Stepmother trope and the Good Mother trope.
The idea that a woman can both be a loving wife and mother and STILL hold grudges, not treat a child well, just fucks with people’s heads.
Like, oh my god, how dare a woman be multi-faceted and complex. How dare she not conform to tired, worn out stereotypes.
now the story of a wealthy family who lost everything, and the
one son who had no choice but to keep them all together
ok, i know that it’s obvious that margaery isn’t being completely genuine to sansa: it’s obvious in the book, and almost more obvious in the show since she’s seen manipulating everyone she comes in contact with. BUT.. i’ve seen some people talking about how everything margaery has said to sansa is a lie or is just pure manipulation, and i don’t think that’s necessarily true. most of margaery’s schemes come from her grandma, and with sansa it’s no different. the whole “come to highgarden and marry my brother” thing is shady, i won’t deny it, but that doesn’t mean the tyrell’s intentions toward sansa were completely false, margaery most of all.
margaery is manipulating joffrey and cersei to secure the crown, but what would SHE personally gain from tricking sansa into thinking they are friends? it’s pretty clear the highgarden scheme is olenna’s idea, for one reason or another, it’s never quite clear in the books. but i think natalie said it best when she described sansa and margaery’s friendship as “not just exclusively in their control”. they can’t have a TRUE friendship because of the circumstances, but that doesn’t mean they don’t truly like each other or would want to be real friends. it was just kind of bugging me when some people just now see margaery and automatically assume “oh, she’s being 100% manipulative right now”, because she’s much more complex than that, especially in regards to sansa. and anway, in the short time that they are friends it is one of the happiest times we’ve ever seen sansa, and she never felt threatened or manipulated by margaery which is important regardless of margaery’s true intentions or feelings toward her.
Margaery’s got her claws in Joffrey.
